Obituary of Donald Robert Ferguson

Donald Robert Ferguson, 83 Glace Bay, N.S. Donald Ferguson of Glace Bay Nova Scotia died on July 25, 2024, at the age of 83 at his family home in Glace Bay, Cape Breton after several weeks of serious cardiac issues. Donald was pre-deceased by his mother Helen Burchell Ferguson and his father Angus Roderick Ernest Ferguson of Glace Bay and is survived by his brother John Alfred Ferguson (Lorna Rapson) and nephews Dan, Tim and David Ferguson and their families. After graduating from Dalhousie University with a B.A. and B.Ed. (Honours) in 1966, Donald’s teaching career took him from Donkin Cape Breton to Goose Bay, Labrador, and to Sierra Leone, in West Africa where he did a two-year stint as a CUSO volunteer. Ever the adventurer with a passion for the outdoors, Donald lived and worked in Alberta for several years, enjoying hiking, backpacking, canoeing, cross-country skiing and curling.
