Obituary of David Jean Aucoin

It is with great sadness that the family of David Jean AuCoin, 69, of Englishtown, announce his passing on September 4th, 2024, at home. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of Stephen “Beef” AuCoin and Norma (Hodder) AuCoin. David grew up in Glace Bay before moving to Westmount where he raised his son, Christopher David James Ford. He spent over 25 years driving a truck for Coca Cola and then Pepsi all over Cape Breton. He was known to many as Pepsi Dave. For over 20 years, David worked for Carabins and Transoverland, driving the bus for many sports teams all over Eastern Canada and the United States. He drove the bus for The Cape Breton Eagles, The Cape Breton West Islanders U18, the Sydney Mitsubishi Rush, just to name a few, with many of these groups requesting “Davey” by name. David’s work in Halifax led him to meeting the love of his life, Connie. David, Connie and their son, Angus Shaun MacAskill AuCoin, moved to Englishtown from Fort McMurray in 2009. David could be found on any sunny day with a beer in his hand on their front patio overlooking St. Ann’s Bay. However, David’s favourite spot was on his boat, even if that boat was still parked on his beach, because as many can attest, who live in Englishtown, David and the water didn’t always see eye to eye. Everyone who knew David knew that his pride and joy and his greatest achievement in life are his two sons. Nothing gave David more joy than watching Christopher ski the slopes and Angus playing hockey. Loved and missed by his wife, Connie MacAskill; his sons, Christopher Ford and Angus AuCoin; his mother, Norma; his sister, Donna (Dave) MacDougall; his sister, Gina (Dave) Doleman; his brother, Allan (Anne); and his brother, Michael. David was pre-deceased by his father, Stephen (Beef) and his brother, Stephen (Tebo). Also remembering him fondly are his father-in-law, Angus MacAskill; his mother-in-law, Marion MacAskill; his brothers-in-law, Larry (Shawna); Lester (Dolena); his sisters-in-law, Melanie (Craig); and Roberta (Michael), as well as his extended family of nephews, nieces, many cousins, and lifelong friends. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, NS, 902-539-7175. All are welcome to attend David’s Celebration of Life to be held at the Gaelic College in the Hall of the Clans in St. Ann’s at 3 pm on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.
