Obituary of Jessie Cecilia Wall

Jessie Cecilia Wall (Reid), 92, Westmount, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 30, 2024, with her family at her side. Born in Sydney, Jessie was the daughter of the late Hubert and Annie (Park) Reid. In her younger years, Mom worked at various jobs, including being a buyer for Eaton’s Clothing and Wolfson’s in Sydney. After graduating from Sydney Academy, she eventually married and moved to Westmount where she raised her family whom she dearly loved. Mom was a very friendly, sociable person. She loved camping in Ingonish and as a campground hostess, was the perfect choice to welcome people to Ingonish for many years. She loved to travel and together her and Dad travelled across Canada and throughout the U.S. Mom also enjoyed music and singing, reading, and knitting (especially socks), which we all to this day enjoy. Mom is survived by her sons, Jerry (Thérèse), and David (Brenda); daughter, Janet (Owen) Lewis; sister, Linda (Poul) Petersen; 9 grandchildren, Tracy, Kelly, Orlando, Craig, Shauna, Cheryl, Tyler, Melissa and J.J.; 14 great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Adena, MacKenzie, Brianna, Mason, Logan, Bailey, Lucian, Lily, Liam, Logan, Asher, Aubrey, and Amelia; and 3 great-great-grandchildren, Aurora, Daxton and Miley. She will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband; Raymond Wall; companion, Wilson Andrews; and brothers, Bob (Lucy) Reid, and David Reid. A special thank you to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital and Palliative Care Unit, and MacGillivray Guest Home administration and staff. Donations in Jessie’s name may be made to a charity of choice. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, NS, 902-539-7175. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, September 7, 10 – 11 am, followed by a funeral service at 11 in the chapel, Fr. Doug Murphy officiating.
