Obituary of Barbara Ann MacEachern

Barbara Ann MacEachern passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024. Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Mick Sandy and Helen (MacKinnon) MacLennan. Barbara is survived by her daughter, Helen (Val) MacDougall; sons, Michael (Sagari Bhaskaran) MacLennan and Rod (Jackie) Campbell; granddaughters, Katie (Michael Boutilier) MacDougall, Meg MacDougall, Kaylah Ashenden; grandsons, Gregor (Ricki Lee Warren) MacDougall, Aidan MacLennan and Michael Campbell; brothers Mick (Cheryl) MacLennan and Philip (Marina) MacLennan. Besides her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Norman, in March 2024, and her sister, Leona Faulder. Barbara grew up in Whitney Pier and raised her children there. She loved her bingo nights with her friends and frequent trips to Pier Dollar Store and “Joans”. Barbara loved to cook, bake, and crochet, but more than anything, she loved being a grandmother. Nothing made her happier than being in the presence of her grandbabies. After Dad’s recent death, Mom adopted a senior cat, Pattigan, who was a great source of companionship and comfort. Mom missed Dad very much, and we take comfort in the thought of them being together again. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, NS, 902-539-7175. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Thursday, September 5, from 6 – 8 pm. Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 6, 12 noon, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Parish, Whitney Pier, Fr. Paul Murphy officiating.
