Marina Frances Warner (Lind)
Glace Bay, N.S.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, wife, and grandmother on August 26, 2024. Born in Glace Bay, she was the beloved daughter of Edward Adrian Lind and Jean (Leonard) Lind-MacLean, and stepdaughter to Robert (Bob) MacLean (all predeceased).
Marina held various roles throughout her life, including catering and working as a cook at Jay's Restaurant until her illness along with taking care of family and friend’s children. She was known for her love of reading, scrapbooking, ice skating and being a huge fan of Elvis. Marina enjoyed playing darts at the Gardiner Recreation Centre, the Seniors’ Club in Glace Bay, and at home, where she took immense pride in beating her husband and celebrating her victories. She was also an avid baker, always treating her family to her delicious, gooey sweets. Marina believed in the power of prayer, often praying to St. Anne (Jesus’ Grandmother because she said a grandmother always protects you) and was a life-long member of St. Anthony’s Church.
Her fur baby and “show dog” (Shihtzu), Bear, held a special place in her heart as she loved taking him for walks. Marina cherished long drives with her husband, Robert, exploring their favorite picnic spots and restaurants. A quiet and easygoing person, she was immensely proud of her three children. Marina never ventured far without her shopping buddies —her daughter Jeanie and granddaughter Brandi—who were always by her side. She also treasured the time spent with her two sons Gary and Greg - She loved when her family were all together, especially camping in Mira.
Marina is survived by her devoted husband of 39 years, Robert (Bob); daughter Jeanie Marie; sons Gary Adrian (Tanya) and Gregory Joseph (Jessica); six grandchildren, Murray, Julian, Brandi Jean, Adrian, Hannah, and Lucas; and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Eileen Jewells, and Helen MacNeil (Jimmy), as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Marina was predeceased by her sister Carolyn Ann Lind, brother Bobby Lind, brother-in-law Bobby Jewells, and her cherished nephew Billy Jewells.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of 3 South at the Glace Bay Hospital, the Heart Function Clinic, the Cancer Centre, especially Nurse Practitioner Sandra Toner, Dr. Spencer, Dr. Gowen, Dr. MacCormick, Dr. Lee, and Dr. Young.
As per Marina’s wishes, there will be no visitation, cremation has taken place, burial will be at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and compassion of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, N.S. 902-849-4199.
