Obituary of Murdock Delton MacLeod
We the family of Murdock Delton MacLeod, Rooster Hill (North River), are heartbroken and saddened to announce his passing on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Hospice Cape Breton, surrounded by his friends and family.
Born in Sydney, June 26, 1955, he was the youngest son of the late John D. and Racheal (Carver) MacLeod.
Murdock is survived by his two daughters; Nicole (Robert) French, Karrie (Chris) Dunn and their mother, Jeanette MacLeod (Gale); his two stepchildren, Ashley (Justin) MacIsaac and Bryson MacDonald, and their mother, Jeanne MacDonald; grandchildren, Kori (Justin) Lund, Breanna French, Jacob and Joshua Dunn, Hadley, Ava, and Rylee MacIsaac; sisters, Dolly McDonald, Raylene (Steve) Nannos, Shirley Wludyka, Sandra (Terry) Feener; sisters-in-law, Mary Jane, Audrey and Helen MacLeod, Melody (Donnie) Dauphney; brother-in-law, Tim MacDonald; numerous nieces and nephews; an especially a big piece of his heart and who was an incredible help to his daughters, Nicole and Karrie, while taking great care of him at end of life, Rose McDonald; best friends, Mousie (John Petrie), Turkey (Donnie Montgomery), and Phillip MacLeod, as well as many cousins.
Murdock will always be remembered as the fun but firm School bus driver taking children from as far as Tarbot Vale to Baddeck Academy for nearly 30 years. He was usually the life of the party and held many close friends since childhood near and dear to his heart which was clear in the last few weeks with so many coming to see him and reminisce even in the last few days.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers; Dennis, John (Doddy), Douglas (Katherine), Roy and Donnie MacLeod, James Forrester, and Murray (in infancy); brothers-in-law, Ambrose McDonald and Frank Wludyka.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all of the staff of 4B CBRH, especially Jon, Jess , Amanda, his special housekeepers, Kim and Wanda, and social worker, Lindsay, the Palliative Care team, and Hospice Cape Breton for taking amazing care of him over the last few weeks of life. A special mention and thanks to his nephew, Delton, for providing a home for him for the last several months in order for us to help take care of him, we are forever grateful for that. Donations in his memory can be made to the Canadian Red Cross or Hospice Society Cape Breton.
In keeping with his wishes as an organ donor, he was able to give the gift of sight to two recipients.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, NS, 902-539-7175. Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, 1 pm, at the North River Community Hall, Oregon Rd., North River.
