Christine Leonard posted a condolence

My husband, Harry, first met Chris whenHarry joined the teaching staff of Stanborough Park School. Watford, England in 1956. Chris was working at the Stanborough Press and they both lodged together with Mr and Mrs Tew.
They became very good friends and on 2nd April 1958 Chris was 'best man' at our wedding.
Chris and Renate emigrated to Canada shortly after they were married but our friendship continued and we were delighted that they came over to visit us a number of times over the years. They also kept in touch by letter and email. Chris certainly had a 'way with words'. We looked forward to his unique handprinted Christmas cards and other paintings and sketches from time to time.
Chris had so many interests and talents and 'lived life to the full'.
We will miss him greatly

When I learnt that Chris was gone, I was on top of Mont Royal, staring down at the Leonard Cohen mural. Thinking back, it now seems that it was a very appropriate place to receive such sad news, surrounded by nature, culture and arts.
Chris always seemed fit and eternal, so his passing came as a shock. He was a very intelligent person, always eager to get into deep conversations. He was caring, magically appearing on my bedside after a surgery or a sickness. He was calm even through the worst hardship a father can endure. He was dedicated to his favorite sports, arts and garden. He loved food and I will never forget all the special meals we shared with Petra, Adam and Renate through the different stages of my life (If only there could have been one more…). His special smile and humming will remain in my memories for ever, and my favorite Christmas card and wise birthday wishes will be greatly missed every year. Thank you for everything Chris.
Love,
Karine

I met Chris one day while he was out walking in the neighbourhood with Renate. Conversations with him were always stimulating. I cherish the memory of him showing up on our doorstep just before Easter 2023. He gifted us with a card entitled " An Easter Meditation". The cover sketch was his own creation. I shall miss our chats and seeing him out walking. My sincere condolences to Renate, Petra, and the family. Love and prayers, Tracy Taylor

Much sand has fallen through the hourglass … thru friendship with Petra, Mr. Oddy was a peripheral character of my formative years.
Despite being peripheral for a season, Mr. Oddy made my world bigger. He was many things my own father's opposite, and in observation I learned much.
A great man is at rest.
Sending much love to Renata, Petra and family,
KB
