It was very little time in which we shared the passage through this life, but that short time it seemed that we already knew each other from a long time ago. Thank you for sharing that beautiful soul you had... That way of making us feel like we were family. Every time I go to Five guys, I'll think you're with us eating a hamburger next to us

At HWPS Erik was a carer for all living things. I’ll always remember how he’d chase down and inspect playground wildlife knowing not to hurt any creature. A lovely and loving soul. So sorry to hear about this wonderful family’s loss…..

Erik, you were one of the most down to earth guy I've ever met. You were not only a kind, thoughtful, and caring friend, but also very talented. I'm fortunate to have one of your arts, which you loved more than anything. I will definitely cherish it the way it deserves. I will certainly miss the Waterfront walk when we could talk and share everything that happened in our life recently. But I hope you feel more peaceful and happy now as there is no more pressure, no more stress. May you rest in peace, Erik! Your friend, Dylan

To Erik's family and friends, This news breaks my heart. Erik was such an embodiment of friendship, humility and kindness. His demise is still a rude shock to me. Upon my arrival in Halifax last year January from Nigeria, Erik was there for me as a welcoming house-mate. His kindness knew no bounds. I just heard this morning about Erik's passing. I am so sorry and leave my prayerful thoughts with the family. I had the pleasure of dining with Erik at Univ. of Kings College many times and besides the amazing amount of food he could eat (and stay skinny!) he was so joyful to be around. God Bless

To Erik's family and friends, I share condolences. Erik was such a gentle soul, always willing to help our office with any extra task. And it was never simply to complete the task. He always wanted to know what we were doing and why. He was clearly bright and curious and interested in learning. Last week I arrived at King's on a slightly overcast day. I stood on the steps of the A&A Building and turned to look back at the Library, past the flags at half mast, to see Emily Pictou Roberts our Indigenous Student Advisor tending a sacred fire in Erik's honour. I inhaled the smoke and felt a lump develop in my throat as I thought, Erik would like this. With gratitude for the memory of this lovely young man, Adriane Abbott, Director of Advancement, University of King's College.

Q: What 3 words best describe Erik and why? A: Honest, loyal and caring. Erik had all three of these qualities and that is why he was liked so much by others, we had many long chats together and he will be missed. My condolences to the entire family.

I knew Erik in middle school. His personality has stuck with me all these years as I was never the most popular kid and Erik made me feel welcome at a new school. I admired his intellect and quiet soul very much. He will be truly missed. With love from Brampton, Canada.

Why would all our ardent longing bind itself in frozen, bitter pallor? After all, the bud was covered all the winter. What new thing is it that bursts and wears? Yes, of course it hurts when buds are breaking, hurts for that which grows and that which bars.
