I'm so sorry to hear of Barrie's passing. We first met when Barrie worked in Sears warehouse in the Trade Mart building in the early 1970s. I knew right away Barrie was a great guy. Later in life we met at Mooseheads hockey games and discussed the team and talked about his motorcycle trips. It's not surprising that Barrie had a lot of friends. My condolences to his family.

The obituary written for Barrie captured exactly who Barrie was. Definitely a kind, caring and helpful neighbour and friend to all. Barrie freely shared his knowledge on so many subjects, but especially on vehicles when I had so many questions. He was talented in so many areas and it was a common occurrence to see him in the kitchen cooking or baking, or outside working in the yard, or on his or his neighbours vehicles. I enjoyed so many conversations with Barrie where he always shared a funny story that made you smile. Growing up with daughters one year apart brought our families together and after moving from Essex Drive frequent trips to the Cove gave me the opportunity to see Barrie and Cathy frequently. His tragic death will leave such a void for his family and friends. My sincere condolences to Cathy, Mandy and all of the family. Rest In Peace Barrie.

We had the privilege of being Barrie’s neighbour in Head of St. Margarets Bay, summer of 1983 to summer 1984. It was only one year but it felt like we knew him for a lifetime, and for that we feel blessed. Our condolences to Cathy and family.

So sorry for your loss. My sincere condolences to Cathy, Mandy, Paul, Bill & families.
I first met Barrie in the late 60s. Somehow I ended up playing pool with Barrie & Paul somewhere in Spryfield. Barrie appeared to me as an older, tough kind of guy & I thought he would never give me, a skinny kid with glasses, the time of day but I was wrong, we hit it off. Barrie couldn't be a nicer, down to earth, coolest guy you could meet or talk to. After that we became the "Bucket Boys" and we even ended up as roommates along with Tom Hatcher & Flop in the big house in Herring Cove. Oh what legendary parties took placecthere!
I will always have fond memories of Barrie in my thoughts. R.I.P. my friend.

My deepest condolences to Barry's family. We were in many of the same school classes and on the high school hockey team. Barry was witty, caring with a great sense of humour. My family were friends with the Smith family, and I have fond memories of the time we spend in our early years.
RIP Barry

We were visiting Cathy & Barrie one summer and Danial O Donald was to be in town. My husband didn’t really care for him but I loved his music. Barry said I will take you. Mandy got us the tickets and we went. When we walked in we were at the top of the balcony. He took my hand we walked down the stairs to our seats. We enjoyed the concert . .keep in mind I am 12 years older than Barry. He was making sure I was safe going down those stairs. He was always a thoughtful person.
We sure will miss this man.
To Cathy, Mandy Matt & Grayson we are very sorry for your loss of such a wonderful individual and he certainly was.
REST IN PEACE BARRY

Barrie and I worked on the same truck together for many years. We shared so many wonderful moments, it was difficult to read of his passing. We spent many nights in hotels from Yarmouth to Sydney, and he always had a story to share…..especially about Cathy and Mandy, his pride and joy. There are so many stories and fond memories of my time with my “brother from another mother”! RIP buddy, this glass is for you……..thanks for all the memories!
