Obituary of Vernon David Reid

Vernon David Reid, 70 Glace Bay, N.S. Vernon David Reid (70), of Glace Bay, NS, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Vernon was born in Glace Bay, N.S. to Mary (AuCoin) and Francis Reid. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Linda (Brufatto), beloved daughters Lana (Jason) Reid, Amy (Andrew) Garner, and his grandchildren Addison (Poppy’s Girl) and Reid, who were the light of his life. He is predeceased by his brothers Tommy, John and Michael, and sisters Vangie O’Neill and Leona Milley. He was a hard worker and a ‘jack-of-all-trades,’ working many jobs throughout his life, most notably for Devco for 24 ½ years. He made friends wherever he went, often while enjoying his favorite hobbies (snowmobiling, racing, and anything to do with cars). He was always up for an adventure and loved to be on the go, with a smile on his face and a story to share along the way. He will forever be remembered for his big heart, passion for life, unwavering love for his family, and being the best husband, father, poppy, and friend, anyone could ask for. A visitation will be held at T. J. Tracey’s Funeral Home on Friday, August 2, 2024, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the wonderful doctors and nurses in the ICU at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, who provided compassionate care and comfort in his last days.
