Obituary of Margaret Mary Verge
Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with heavy hearts we mourn the passing and celebrate the life of Margaret Mary Verge, age 91 of Bedford. Born on January 3, 1933 in Halifax Nova Scotia she was the daughter of the late Karl Fisher and Dolorosa Josephine (Butler) Kean. She passed peacefully with family by her side on Sunday, July 28 2024.
One of eight children, Margaret grew up in the St. Margarets Bay area (Five Island Lake), later working at Simpsons Department Store in Halifax. She later met and married the love of her life Joseph Albert Verge on August 15, 1953. They went on to raise three children.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Al; brother, Gerald Kean; sisters, Marion Lovett, Geraldine Bee, Katherine (Kay) Lovett, Joan Lloy; and daughter-in-law, Brenda Verge.
Margaret is survived by her sisters, Mildred Decker and Rita Colp; daughter, Linda (Ron) Edmonds; sons, Ken (Debbie) Verge and Mark(Cathy) Verge; Grandchildren, Sara (Matt) Bonin, Erin Edmonds, Justin (Roula) Verge, Alex (Valérie) Verge and Allison (David) Verge as well as great grandchildren, Rosabelle and Evander Verge.
An incredible baker, her cakes, cookies, and homemade bread were always in high demand. She loved bingo nights, camping, and cottage life, and ensured that the whole family always gathered on Sundays for dinner.
A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Margaret to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or a charity of your choice. We would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and support staff of Parkland West Bedford (The Stratford) for their very kind and compassionate care of Margaret while a resident there. We would also like to thank Melanie for her care during Margarets final days.
