Obituary of Catherine Victoria Ryan

Catherine (Kay) Victoria Ryan, 80 Glace Bay, N.S. It is with deep sorrow that we the family of Catherine (Kay) Victoria Ryan, 80, of Glace Bay, announce her passing on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at home. Born in Glace Bay, Kay was the daughter of the late Allan (Cy) and Mary Viola MacDonald. Kay was a hairdresser for many years, and later in life became the lunch lady at Tompkins Memorial School in Reserve Mines. She loved to line dance, as well as laying in the sun relaxing, and loved animals Most importantly, Kay cherished spending time with her family, and going shopping. Kay is survived by her husband Lawrence (Larry) of 60 years; two sons: Larry (Elizabeth) and Allan (Cori); a brother Allan (Sherine); four grandchildren: Kyle, Nolan, Michael, and Kelsey; and very dear friend Pauline Chislett. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Special thank you to VON, for all the compassion and care given to Kay, we truly appreciate it. Arrangements have been entrusted to T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, N.S. 902-849-4199. As per Kay’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be on Tuesday , July 30, 2024 from 1-2 p.m., and a Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m., with Fr. Norman MacPhee presiding, all in Tracey’s Funeral Home, Glace Bay.
