The Ross family, Carol’s family in Miramichi are so saddened by the loss of John. He and Carol were true soulmates and travelled through life, building a beautiful family. Paul and his family are a true legacy to the love of John and Carol.
I particularly remember the generosity and care of John when I stayed at Carol and John’s home while doing a teaching practicum.
John will be truly missed.

John passed through our lives for two weeks whilst cruising through Europe. We enjoyed his and Carol’s company and spent evenings with them sharing life experiences. What a great loss he is to his family and close friends. I am so glad we got to spend a very small amount of time with him. God bless you John.

John came to my rescue several times. So knowledgeable about so many things, he patiently repaired my garden tractor, assembled my new lawn mower and the electric car for my grandson and much more. Always positive and good natured, he gave me good advice about various tasks. I was honored to have such a wonderful neighbour.

A letter to a friend I didn’t get to say goodbye to....
John,
Our time together was short, but that is no reflection of the importance and/or impact your friendship had on me. We bonded over repairing sprinklers and our friendship grew in the days to follow. You were someone who was easy to talk to, laugh with and solve the world's problems. And even though these things were not monumental in themselves, they strengthened our friendship and bond to what it became till the day of your passing.
There hasn’t been a day since your passing that something hasn’t triggered a memory of you, which brings a tear to my eye, sadness to my heart and reminds me that there is a hole in my life where there once was happiness and a true friend.
I wish I could say I understood why you had to be taken so soon, but I can’t, but I will cherish the memories we made, the fun we had, the long conversations...... and that will be my way of honoring you and our friendship.
You apologized for leaving me, and I never had a chance to tell you how I felt or say goodbye, so I look forward to the time we meet up again and I can share this with you.
Chris

Carol, my condolences to you and your family as you grieve the loss of John. From my quiet observation and witnessing the love and friendship of Chris and Shannon towards him, and you as a couple, I know there is much to celebrate about who he was, the way he lived and the kind of energy he brought into each relationship. He will be dearly missed. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

In the short time we got to spend with John we became fast friends. He was like a big brother and best friend rolled into one. He and Chris would spend their mornings in Florida sipping their coffee, admiring the view and solving the world's problems, as they called it. He would do anything for anyone. He was one of the kindest people I've ever met. You will be missed my dear friend, but I will cherish the time I got to spend with you. Until we meet again, love "that girl from Ontario and BC" xoxo

I was shocked and saddened to hear of John’s passing. He and I worked together for many years at Shoppers Drug Mart on Tacoma Dr. in Dartmouth. I thought the world of John, considered him a friend and confidente. Many business trips to Toronto and away were made more enjoyable because of his personality and confidence. He was irreplaceable when he left to work at head office. I am truly sorry we lost contact over the last number of years and my condolences to Carol, Paul and family.

My condolences to Carol, Paul, Marshall, and extended family.
As loyal as they come with a heart as big as the world.
A straight shooter who gave his best to whatever he took on, and did not give up until it was complete.
I spent many years leaning on his expertise, and many nights where we just had to lean on each other.
He would do anything for his family, was proud of Paul and looked forward to Wednesday night sleepovers with Marshall.
Although we were separated by distance at times, I often thought about him and the enjoyable years we were able to share.
Called to soon, I will miss him as we all will.
Rest well.

I will always remember John for his amazing sense of humour, how he cared for the people he worked with and his love of NASCAR. He would text me during the races and make fun of my driver if he crashed or if JJ won a race.
After his grandson was born he would leave events and meetings just to FaceTime with the little guy even though he was just an infant.
One of my favorite memories was when John volunteered to be part of an IWK fundraiser by allowing himself to be in a dunk tank and Carol reached into his wallet and pulled out a $50 bill to have him dunked.
You will be missed by many John, thank you for everything.

My condolences to the Burke family. I loved hearing about his grandson—his face lit up with joy with every story he told. John played more of a role than he ever knew in both my professional and personal development. For this, I will always be grateful.
