Obituary of John Michael Heron

It is with great sadness that we, the family of John Michael Heron, 76, announce his sudden passing at home on Friday, May 31, 2024. Born in Sydney, John was the son of the late John Heron and Catherine Boucher. Throughout his career, John worked for Sydney Steel, Stelco, Hamilton Ont., heavy equipment in Fort McMurray and drove taxi. In his younger years, he hunted and fished, enjoyed long drives around the island, and playing pool. He was very sociable and enjoyed the company of others. He is survived by several nieces and nephews in Antigonish and known cousins, Donald, John and Roberta Peters. Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his brother, Patrick C. Heron, daughter, Danielle, and son, Sean Patrick Heron. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, NS, B1S 0M5, 902-539-7175. There will be no visitation, interment will take place at a later date in Holy Cross Cemetery.
