It is with broken hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of Garfield Andrews, on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at the Glace Bay Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Elwood and Serenus (MacIntyre) Andrews.


Garfield was a member of Holy Family Parish, MacKay’s corner until its closure.

He was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling and playing ball. He coached baseball in his younger years.

Garfield is survived by his loving wife, Theresa “Terry” (MacDonald) Andrews; his children, Jamie, Carolyn, Bradley, David, Elaine, Garfield Jr., Lynn, Kevin and Bernard; his 16 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Elwood and Darrow; sister, Marie; his best friend, Earl Wadden “the old fella” ; as well as great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.


The family would like to send a special thank you to Tracey George, the doctors and the nursing staff at the cancer unit, a sincere thank you to Dr. Gallivan and the nursing staff at the Glace Bay Hospital, for their care and compassion given to Garfield during his stay. We appreciate everything that you all have done for him and the family.

Cremation has taken place. A family graveside service will be held Sunday, December 24, 2017 in Greenwood Cemetery, Glace Bay at 2 p.m. with Father Daniel Boudreau officiating.
