Obituary of Ian Stewart MacDonald

Ian Stewart MacDonald,82 of Dartmouth passed away peacefully at home May 25,2024. Ian was born in North Sydney to George and Lois (Archibald) MacDonald on July 21,1942. Ian was a kind -hearted man who always put his family first. He was an active member of his church and participated in various projects. Ian earned degrees from Dalhousie, Technical University of Nova Scotia and St. Mary’s university (Education). Following a career in engineering, Ian taught at Dartmouth Community College (Computer Science) for many years. Beloved husband of Laraine (58 Years), loving father to Craig (Wen) of Seattle, Daughter Jenifer Cutting of Dartmouth and grandson Keiden of Seattle. Ian is also survived by a sister Dr.Janeen MacDonald of Ottawa. Also left to mourn is brother –in -law Allan and wife Judy Dwyer of Halifax, and many cousins. Also, great and wonderful neighbors, especialy Ethel Nelson who have been so kind during this journey with cancer. In retirement Ian and Laraine made memories during various trips to Japan, Seattle and many to the USA. The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the medical staff, VON and palliative care team allowing Ian’s wish to remain at home. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to charity of your choice. Ian’s infectious spirit, kindness and love for his family will be remembered by all the lives he has touched. MAY HE REST IN ETERNAL PEACE
