Mary Josephine Smith, 63

Glace Bay, N.S.

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Mary Josephine Smith of Glace Bay, on Thursday, May 23, 2024, in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, with her family at her side. Born in Glace Bay, Mary was the daughter of the late Theresa and Albert Went.

For the past 22 years, Mary has worked at Convergys in Glace Bay. Mary thoroughly enjoyed playing darts, cards and she loved thrift shopping with her many friends.

Mary is survived by a son Michael (Lisa) Smith; two daughters: Patrice (Rick) Bridge and Andrea Smith (Shawn); three sisters: Shirley McInnis, Helen MacLean, and Thelma Knox; grandchildren: Jessica, Jordan, Jack, Michaela, Emma, Bella, and Olivia.

Along with her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband Mike Smith and a brother Eddy Went.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 11 a.m., in T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay. 902-849-4199. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery MacLeod’s Rd., Glace Bay.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Palliative Care Unit in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
