Obituary of Yvonne Rousseau

Please share a memory of Yvonne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved sister, Yvonne Rousseau, at the age of 67 on May 19, 2024. She will be greatly missed. Born in Halifax, NS she was a daughter of Gilles and Ruth Rousseau. Yvonne had received a Bachelor of Home Economics (Clothing and Textiles), a Bachelor of Education and Secretarial Diploma from Mount Saint Vincent University. She spent her career as an Administrative Assistant with the Province of Nova Scotia, predominantly with the Departments of Environment and Human Resources. Yvonne’s passion was working with textiles. She was a talented weaver, seamstress, quilter and knitter extraordinaire. She loved to put her talents to work gifting items to family, friends and charity. Our Nordic mittens, lovingly made, will hold warm remembrances for years to come. She was known as the Fruit Cake Lady at the Prospect Road Crafters Market where she sold the festive cakes made using our Great Grandma Rose’s recipe. She is survived by her sisters Pauline (David) Naugler and Suzie (Gary) Roberts, her nieces/nephews Jason, Natalie, Lauren and Travis, great niece/nephews Zoe, Darius and Jake. She will be sadly missed by the best Sister-Friend ever, Ethel. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gilles and Ruth Rousseau. Special and sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of 7A-Palliative Care at the VG and Alyson, Cancer Care Social Worker. You are all truly angels sent from above. The exceptional and compassionate care and support that Yvonne received made an immeasurable difference throughout her journey. There will be no visitation or service per Yvonne’s request.
