Obituary of William Dennis Murphy

Age 75 of Terence Bay passed away suddenly on May 11, 2024 in the Abbey J. Lane Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Born in Halifax to the late Salomie and Martin Murphy. Bud was an extraordinary carpenter and took pride in his work, he especially excelled in cabinetry. Bud loved to fish with his brother -in-law Paul, and enjoyed playing the guitar with Gordon and they would travel together to the old kitchen parties in Dover, where they experienced a friend playing a tune on the accordion so hard that he tore it apart. He also loved hunting back in the day with Gordon and the fellow crew, but he always made sure his fur buddy Butch was by his side. During Buds later years in life he loved to sit on the deck and watch the Blue Jays with his fur baby Mindy. William “Bud” was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, who will be greatly missed by all who met him. He is survived by his daughter, Tina (Ronald) Benoit of Terence Bay; son, Steven Murphy of Dartmouth; grandchildren, Tiffany Benoit, and Danielle Benoit; sisters, Lorretta Walker, Shirley Little, Barbara Creelman, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by his first wife, Linda (Humphrey) Murphy; second wife, Sandra Murphy; brothers, Mart Murphy, Edward “Ted” Murphy; sisters, Aileen Aucoin, Marilyn Demone. A private family interment will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery. A celebration of Life service will be held on May 26, 2024 from 1pm-3pm, in the Terence Bay Community Hall, 80 Sandy Cove Rd, Terence Bay, NS B3T 1Y7, all are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the NS SPCA or a charity of choice. We would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses of the Abbey J. Lane Memorial Hospital for their compassion and care shown towards Bud during his stay.
