Obituary of Colleen Rideout

Colleen Monica (Donovan) Rideout Glace Bay It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the sudden passing of our dear wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, Colleen Rideout, age 93 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney surrounded by her loving family. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Teresa (Aucoin) Donovan. Colleen was employed as a dietary supervisor for many years until her retirement at the Glace Bay Community Hospital. Mom enjoyed a good game of cards with family and friends, and traveling to Las Vegas, most of all, she loved gathering with her beloved family and friends. Colleen is survived by her loving husband and soul mate of 73 years, Henry Rideout; her two sons, Rick (Mona), Alberta, Brian (Sharon), Gabarus, NS; daughter Nancy Rideout (Gary) Glace Bay; her eight grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren which were her pride and joy; her three precious great great grandchildren; her special friend, Paula MacLean, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her parents, Herbert, and Teresa; she was predeceased by her daughter, Sharon; great granddaughter, Madison; brothers, Winnifred, Art, Herbert, Jimmy, and Aubrey; sisters, Mary, Bertha, Gertrude, Beatrice, Agnes, Theresa, Dolly, Doris, and Paula. Cremation has taken place. A visitation will take place on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, beginning at 1 p.m., with a Celebration of Life to follow at 2 p.m., all in T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, N.S. 902-849-4199. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and Cancer Center. Our family would like to thank the staff of Seaview Manor, Palliative Care Unit, and the doctors and nurses of the Regional Hospital, for their care give to Colleen.
