With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Pauline Marie Harper, age 89, of Halifax, NS, on April 28, 2024.

Born in Tyne Valley, PEI, Pauline was the daughter of the late Frank and Josephine (MacDonald) MacDougall. At an early age, her family moved to Halifax.

Pauline was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

She is survived by her son, Douglas (Pam) Harper of Calgary; daughters, Patrice, and Denise of Ottawa; and grandchildren, Hannah, Noah, Kate, Anna, and Jack; brother, Reggie.

She was predeceased by her husband, Frank; sister, Mary (Martell); brothers, Donald, Leonard, Gerald, and Basil.

Pauline was a long-time active member of St Pius X Church and St Benedict's parish. She was also involved in numerous municipal, provincial, and federal election campaigns throughout the '70s, '80s, and '90s.

Pauline's kindness, generosity, and warm smile were not just traits; they were the essence of who she was. Her ability to brighten any room she entered and her knack for running into familiar faces wherever she went were just a few of the ways she touched the lives of those around her. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A visitation will be held on Friday May 10, 2024, from 4pm-8pm followed by a funeral service to honor and celebrate Pauline's life on May 11, 2024, at 10am, both in St Benedict's Roman Catholic Church. Reception to follow in the church hall.

In place of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Foundation.

Pauline's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She touched countless lives and leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and compassion. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
