Dorothy was a joy to be with. She was considerate, kind and had a great sense of humour. I went on a few ski trips with her. One was her first trip with the club when we got off the chair at the top of Whistler and she immediately went into the snow plow stance. Fun times getting down. She was a brave lady. Throughout the week she steadily improved. Always a great room mate and friend to many. The world is a better place because of Dorothy. Sincere condolences to her family.

Dorothy was a wonderful coworker, always there to share her knowledge on work topics, and on life in general. Although it has been many years, I can still her her voice giving me bits of wisdom that I still reference to this day.
My sincerest condolences to her son and daughter, and to all that loved her - you are in my prayers.

On behalf of the Dahlia Society of Nova Scotia where Dorothy found many dear friends we wish to extend our condolences to her family and friends. I met Dorothy many years ago when speaking at a Halifax Westmoor meeting. Dorothy was president at the time and I was very impressed with how she ran the meeting and fielded questions from her members. A few years later Dorothy found he way to the dahlia society and she wasn't going to be a bump on a log as she quickly got involved first as treasurer and then as secretary. Dorothy always amazed me as to how calm she could be in hectic circumstances and always seemed to have some sort of inner peace to handle anything or anybody. We will miss her dearly. - Arthur Haskins

I had a fantastic week in NFLD with Dorothy as part of her hiking group. I got to know her so much more and enjoyed fun evenings as well as the busy hiking days. She was a real trooper in every way. Shared a lot of gardening tips with me.
We had also travelled to Mexico with Johanna, and Wendy as well. She loved adventure. I’m thankful for all our fun times together.
A lovely lady. ❤️ Susan Serieys

Dorothy was a special lady. Condolences to her family.
I knew Dorothy through Club Ski 30 and have hiked with her in the Chebucto Hiking Club. We were on several ski trips and traveled together a few times.
Our last trip together was to Barcelona, Spain for 5 days and then onto France with Eber & Susan Serieys for a two week "wine & food" tour in October 2012.

So sorry to hear about Dorothy’s passing. She certainly was an adventuresome, joyful, gracious lady. We roomed together on a ski trip to Whistler several years ago where we got off the chair at the top and went into our snow plow move managing to make it to the bottom. I thought we could be in trouble then. Fortunately Derek Fong came to our rescue working with us throughout the week and straightened out that snow plow.
Great memories of other ski trips after that. I know there are many others who have special memories of time spent with Dorothy. Thank you dear lady. Betty Colavecchia,

I met Dorothy when she signed up for a Club Ski 30 trip that I was organizing to Whistler. She was new to skiing but up for the challenge. I got to know her when we were on the Club Executive together. She had a spark...and would take on many adventures in her life. Great lady! Susan MacDonald

Dorothy was my best friend and “Raftin Buddy” as well as my cherished sister in law for over fifty years. When I think of Dorothy I see her smiling face with a twinkle in her eye, Dorothy was always up for an adventure and we sure shared many .
To know Dorothy was to love her, she made friends wherever she went. She sure loved life and she had so many interests: her butterflies, her garden, hiking, cycling, traveling, I will think of Dorothy smiling every time I walk by the Dahlia section of the Public Gardens.
We skied together in Whistler, cycled together in Halifax and Florida, vacationed together in Hawaii and the Caribbean. Bill and I also enjoyed so many visits from Dorothy over the years, in Edmonton, Winnipeg, Vancouver, Bracebridge and Florida. My memories of those visits are: the laughter, the fun adventures and chatting the days away while enjoying a few glasses of vintage red wine.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to her beloved daughter Stefanie, Colin, SuSu, Jeanette, Vera, Herb, Paul and Riley. She left us too soon.
My forever Raftin Buddy and best friend,
She will forever be in our hearts,
Love Sue and Bill

So sorry to read of Dorothy's passing. Many years ago, Dorothy joined a Beta Sigma Phi sorority chapter I was in, in Lower Sackville. Loved her outgoing and fun personality and was sad when she decided to leave. Can't remember why she did, but missed she and Doug's presence at meetings and social functions. We did keep in touch for a time...Fond memories of her I shall hold in my heart. Condolences to her family.

Well were to begin to describe our BFF and neighbour Dorothy. I could write a whole chapter on our relationship. She was a real go getter when it came to the active lifestyle. We hiked, snowshoed & cycled together. We shared the love of gardening. We had 16 years together as neighbours, during those years we had many talks both serious matter and most certainly lots of laughs. Then there was the special day that the" Captain" (the little ball of white fluff that looked somewhat like a dog) came into our lives.
Dorothy would bring the Captain over for his daily visit and we would all share in the joy of this little fellow. As I said I could go on and on about our relationship but will finish by saying goodbye to our friend you were the best person that we could have had enter our lives. As always lots of love Merv & Margo.

To Jeanette, Vera and Paul, my deepest condolences in your loss. It appears as Dorothy lived a full and satisfying life. We should all take a page from her book. The picture of her is beautiful and definitely shows the Comeau genes, which means she is beautiful. I pray that God will surround you and her family with comfort and peace. Love to you all.
Your loving cousin,
Brenda

Farewell, My Friend.
I was searching for a picture and came across this one. I have others, but I was drawn to this one. Dorothy was full of spunk! We hit it off immediately (VON). She was a force to be reckoned with. Wendy, Carole, Dorothy and I sang a few songs together, in public. I actually can't believe we did that, but we did. There is an audio tape somewhere!
Dorothy loved flowers, especially her Dahlias. But, she also had an affinity for Monarch Butterflies, she had her own butterfly farm.
"I will sing Happy Birthday to you on May 10th".
