Daniel “Peyton” Karlson McKinnon
Glace Bay, N.S.
It is with deep sadness that we the family of Daniel “Peyton” Karlson McKinnon announce his passing on Sunday, March 31, 2024, in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in Glace Bay, N.S., he was the son of the late John and Julia (Arsenault) McKinnon.
During Peyton’s younger years he worked for Cadagan’s Fish Plant in Glace Bay. In his past time, Peyton loved to talk with people all over the world on his CB Radio; he always looked forward to many family gatherings, and he loved to watch the sunrise and sunset. Peyton always enjoyed his many trips to Tim Hortons and drives with his brothers, as well as driving all over Glace Bay on his pride and joy, his bike. Peyton was helpful to others with their yard work.
Peyton is survived by siblings: Patrick, Dwight, Bernie, and George (Janet), Shirley Furey, Elishia (Joey) Nearing, Brenda Earle, Lena MacKinnon, Natalie (Terry) Jewells, and Beverly (Richard) Dilny; as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews including his goddaughter, Terrilynn Jewells, niece, Maisie McKinnon.
Along with his parents, Peyton was predeceased by a sister Patricia and a brother Erik, brothers-in-law, Firman and Steven, nephew Kenneth and great niece Athena.
A Celebration of Life will be held on April 4, 2024, at 10 a.m., with Fr. MacLeen Anyanwu in T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialist, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, N.S. 902-849-4199.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Glace Bay Food Bank or a charity of one’s choice.
Thank you to the staff at Taigh Na Mara and to the doctors and nurses on the Palliative Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
