Margaret (Margie) Lillian MacDougall Glace Bay, N.S. The world lost a true gem on March 21, 2024, Margret (Margie) Lillian MacDougall died suddenly at her home in Glace Bay. Margie was born September 28, 1957, in Toronto, Ontario, the oldest child of Gerry and Kit Derbyshire. Mom moved back to Cape Breton as a child when her father left the military. Margie went to St. Johns School in Glace Bay in her younger years until 1977. She joined the military as a medical aid for a year, and then returned to Glace Bay, where she worked at the fish plant until starting her family. She stayed home to raise her children during their youngest years returning to work at various jobs over the next several years, but always being there when her children needed her. The most memorable being her job at the Lonnie Ceramic shop where she showed off her talent at painting as well as teaching classes. She returned to finish high school at the Adult Day school graduating as Valedictorian in 1999. Since this time, she has focused again on her family, she loved babysitting specifically her grand children when they came along. The last few years she lived a quiet simple life spending most of her time at home with her dog Pepper. Mom loved staying in touch with family and friends on social media, she would listen to anyone who needed someone to talk too no matter what problem she may have had. Left to mourn her are her son Shannon MacDougall, daughter Amber (Cory) Brown, grandchildren Jayden Green (Kelsey), Gracie (Brandon), Sophie and Charlie MacDougall, Dean, Lilly, and Robert Brown. Her long-time partner Paul Hogan along with his children Paula (Blair) and Joe Hogan and his grandchildren who she considered hers as well, Sara and Darren; sisters Darlene (Jackie) Gibson, Geraldine (Johnny) Derbyshire, sister-in-law Sandra Derbyshire, daughter-in-law Alisha Gillard MacDougall. As well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Margie was predeceased by her parents Kit and Gerry Derbyshire, grandson Christopher Brown, brother Timmy Derbyshire and nephew Dennis Derbyshire. Cremation has taken place, funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at 10 am in T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay. 902-849-4199.
