In Loving Memory of Pierre Dupuy
Lt (Ret) Pierre Joseph Dupuy, 75, of Bedford, passed away peacefully March 11, 2024 at the QEII Halifax Infirmary. Surrounded by his beloved family, he passed with grace leaving behind a legacy of love and a warmth that will forever endure.
Born in Montréal, QC, Pierre was the eldest child of the late Louis-Philippe Dupuy and Muriel Bousquet. He spent his youth in and around Saint-Lambert with his younger siblings Louise-Nicole, Carole, Jean-Luc, Michèle, Louis-Paul and the late Marie Dupuy. He held fond memories of their summers in Saint-Paul, and the friendships formed in his childhood remained throughout his life.
Pierre served his country as a Naval Officer in the Canadian Forces until his retirement in 1996, a career which took him around the world aboard many vessels, and to postings across Canada. His boundless curiosity, eagerness to learn and teach, and deep investment in his community made him a valued member of Sackville Toastmasters, St Ignatius Parish, and independent French radio station Radio Métro-Halifax.
Pierre is survived by his wife of 49 years, Peggy (Lovett), daughters Monique and Danielle (Anthony Wight), son Christophe (Kaitlin Milley), grandchildren Colin, Jack, Eva, Veronica and Isiah, and many nieces and nephews. Forever questing for knowledge, Pierre never lost his childlike wonder of the world around him. He instilled in his children and grandchildren that same curiosity that carried him through life, and never wavered in his passionate support for whatever interest, hobby or career struck their fancy. Pierre was particularly dedicated to his second career as a chauffeur, and made sure no kid in Bedford would miss a ringette or basketball game, a choir or band practice, or be late for school or work — not while Pierre was on duty. He touched the lives of all who knew him with his unique humour, dependability and generosity.
Cremation services have been provided by T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Beechville. In accordance with Pierre’s wishes, committal of ashes at sea aboard a naval vessel will take place at a later date. A celebration of Pierre's life will be held Saturday, May 11, 2024 12:00-2:00 pm at St Ignatius Parish Hall, 5 Bedford Street, Bedford. Please join Pierre’s family and friends to honour his memory and share stories of the joy he brought to all who knew him.
