Charlene Dorothy (MacDougall) Reid Donkin It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of Charlene Reid, age 65 on Saturday, March 16, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Roderick “Roddie” and Thirza (Fitzpatrick) MacDougall. Charlene was employed with Canada Post for over 20 years as the Postmaster in Donkin. She was a member of the Donkin Citizens Brass Band and was president until her passing. A member of St. Luke’s United Church Choir as well as the Past President and Treasurer, a Sunday School Teacher, she was the Past Nobel Grand of Queen Victoria Rebecca Lodge, Donkin; Charlene was the past president of Donkin Morien Parent Teacher Assoc; she was a member of the Donkin Morien School Band Parents Assoc and the Donkin Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. Charlene is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Ken Reid; daughter, Jennifer Reid (Allan McCarthy), Donkin; son, John Robert (Tara) Reid; Glace Bay; her precious grandsons, Mason and Jaxon, Glace Bay. She is also survived by her sister, Sherry (Bill) Harle; brother, Kirk (Christine) MacDougall, both of Niagara Falls, ON; sister-in-law Helen (Lawrence) Murphy, Glace Bay, as well as nephews, Kirk MacDougall, Logan MacDougall, Dustin MacDougall, Colin Murphy (Kerri), Terry (Raven) Murphy. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her mother and father in-law, Hugh and Ruth Reid. “Heart to God – Hand to Man.” Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, from 3-6 p.m. at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS (902-849-4199) Memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Salvation Army, Union St., Glace Bay with Captains Keith and Charlene Barrett officiating. Donations in Charlene's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to Salvation Army. Interment will be held at a later date.
