Years pass, people move away, social media becomes your main point of contact, and Facebook allows you to follow each other's lives, stay up to date, and remain in touch despite the distance. This happens with so many of us—and this is what happened with me and Tina.
Tina—a sweet childhood friend who is part of so many core and special moments from kindergarten through middle school. From early morning jump rope sessions to group projects, birthday parties and sleepovers, so many passed notes and shared secrets, the boy tales + crushes + butterflies + teenage heartbreaks, a little bit of mischief, and so much fun! And her laugh–I imagine that, like me, every family member and friend has heard Tina's beautiful, happy, and contagious laugh echo through their heart and soul this week.
Tomorrow will be one week since the world lost Tina. It has been a week of seeing such heartfelt tributes to her, reminiscing, glimpsing little Tina in childhood photos, and feeling shaken by the shock of someone so loved and taken far too soon.
Where there is grief, love remains—and I can only hope that this deep love provides strength and comfort for you all—Pat, Lisa, Tina’s beloved girls, and Maroun—in the days ahead.
