Obituary of Daniel Alexander MacDonald

It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Daniel MacDonald on February 26, 2024 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with loving family by his side. Born in Sydney, Daniel was the son of Hughie R. and Christina MacDonald, and husband of the late Margaret Josephine (MacNeil). He will be dearly missed by his children; Bryden MacDonald (Wanda), Lisa MacDonald (Tag), Judey MacDonald and Brenda Bragg (Allan); grandchildren, Connor, Lauren, Avery, Clair and Daniel, and his beloved dog Mia. Besides his parents and wife, Daniel was predeceased by his son, Dan Gerard; brothers, Rannie, Charlie, Hughie, Jackie; and sisters, Sr. Marie, Norma, Beverly, Jean and Sr. Peggy. The majority of his career was with the Canadian National Railway where lifelong friendships were established. He enjoyed daily walks with his dogs, time at the family bungalow in Benacadie, and visits with his neighbours, Mike MacInnis and Hector MacMullin. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, NS, 902-539-7175. There will be no visitation. A graveside service will take place at a later date. The family wishes to extend thanks to the staff of 3B of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their care and compassion.
