George Lovell Moland Halifax It is with deep sadness we announce the unexpected passing of our brother George Lovell Moland, 74, of Halifax, N.S., in the Halifax Infirmary on Saturday, February 17, 2024. George was born in Chester, N.S., and moved to Reserve Mines at an early age. He will be remembered for his kindness, sense of humor and mischievous laugh. George was a “go to” person when it came to modern technology for family and friends and loved to get the latest new device. In his early years he worked at Sydney Airport and then was lighthouse keeper on a variety of islands off Cape Breton and Eastern Nova Scotia. He then was employed as superintendent in various apartment buildings in Halifax and went on to janitorial services for Service Canada until his retirement. George was predeceased by his parents Stanley and Betty Moland, his nephew Devin Stanley and brother-in-law, Jeff Sasko. Left to mourn his loss are his sisters Nancy (Sandy) McLean, Port Hawkesbury, JoAnn (Henry) Young, Reserve Mines, and Paula Moland, Georgetown, South Carolina; brother Mark (Erin) Moland, Lethbridge, AB; as well as seven nieces and three nephews. We would like to thank Steve Daley George’s friend who was there for him over the years. The doctors and the nursing staff of IMCU at the Halifax Infirmary and especially Colleen and Dave Sampson for their love and support at this difficult time. In keeping with George’s wishes, cremation has taken place and burial will take place in Chester, N.S., in the summer. Donations in George’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care and compassion of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Halifax/Glace Bay, N.S.
