Obituary of Christopher Fawcett
Please share a memory of Christopher to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the death of our beloved son Chris, who passed away suddenly at home from a pulmonary embolism (blood clot) on February 11, 2024, at the age of 31.
Chris had an immensely beautiful soul to all who knew him. Chris was a kind-hearted gentle man who would give you the shirt off his back and would do anything for anyone. He had a great personality. Whenever Chris met someone, he would strike up a conversation, it could be as simple as Hi, how are you? How is your day going? He was always trying to brighten up someone’s day. Chris always had a smile on his face.
Chris attended Bel Ayr School from P-6; Eric Graves from 7-9; Prince Andrew High in Grade 10; then Auburn High. He went to NSCC where he completed first year of welding.
Chris enjoyed various sports; he played soccer from the age of 6-19 with Dartmouth United., He played midfield but was also the designated kicker. He also played basketball, street hockey and football. Chris enjoyed watching the Mooseheads and looked forward to the World Junior Hockey Games.
Chris was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing. If you ever wanted to find Chris, you could always find him at his favorite fishing hole. He never came home empty handed. He loved to go striper fishing with his dad down in Digby. He loved his dog Charlie who was by Chris’ side everywhere they went.
He is survived by his mother, Lynne (Raftus) Fawcett, Dartmouth; Father, Chuck Fawcett (Wendy), Digby; uncles, Joe Culleton (Diane), BC and Gordon Raftus (Kath), Sackville; aunts, Gail Maire, Antigonish; Virginia, Lisa and Tina Raftus, Halifax, and many cousins.
He was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Gordon and Dorothy Raftus; paternal grandparents, Fred and Gertrude Fawcett; aunts, Karen Igglesden, Heather Vince and uncle, Bob Raftus, Thiery Maire, and Leo McKinnon.
Arrangements have been entrusted to T.J. Tracey’s Funeral Home, 71 McQuade Lake Crescent, Halifax (by Tim Horton & Wendy’s), where a Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024, from 11am-12pm, with a reception to follow. Interment will take place in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens at 2pm, 767 Main Street, Westphal (107 Highway).
“A thousand words won’t bring you back, I know because I’ve tried. Neither will a thousand tears, I know because I’ve cried.”
