Geraldine Marie (Aucoin) Bonaparte
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Geraldine Marie Bonaparte (Aucoin), age 69 of Reserve Mines, NS. She passed away on January 17, 2018 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Maude (Chaisson) and Kenneth Aucoin. She was devoted to her family and friends. Her pleasure in life was welcoming people into her home. Geraldine had fond memories if her years at Mount Saint Vincent Convent where she cared for the Sisters of Charity. She was a huge music fan, but her greatest pleasure in life was spending time with her grandchildren.
Geraldine will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 45 years, Jack Bonaparte; son, Jamie Bonaparte; daughter, Joleen Poirier (Joey); brother, Dougie (Gwen); sisters, Marilyn (Butch) MacNeil, Carmel (Billy) Reid, Patsy (Charlie) Murray and Linda (Dan Joe) O’Connell; grandchildren, Kersten, Ty, Hayden and Wyatt, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son, Jackie Bonaparte, and a son in infancy, Kenneth; brothers, Kenny, Billy and Dougie Aucoin; mother-in-law, Catherine; father-in-law, Smokey, and brothers-in-law, Arthur and Ronnie.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Church, Main St., Reserve Mines with Rev. Daniel Boudreau officiating. Burial to follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, MacLeod’s Road, Glace Bay. Reception to take place in the church basement.
A very special thank you to Dr. Carol Critchley, Dr. Paul MacDonald, Dr. Young, VON, Renal Dialysis Unit and too many family and friends who visited and provided support in anyway. A special thank you to her special niece, Kim Popwell, for being there for the family and all that she does. An extra special thank you to her sister and best friend Patsy who was there for Mom through everything. You held a special place in her heart. You were her angel on earth.
Thank you to her special niece, Jillian for her Monday nights visits, she loved your company.
