Obituary of Neil 'Nickie" Thomas Madore

Neil Thomas Madore, 80 Glace Bay, N.S. With heavy hearts, we the family announce the passing of our father, grandfather, uncle and friend, Neil Thomas Madore on Thursday, February 8, 2024, in the Glace Bay Hospital. Born in Glace Bay, Nickie was the son of the late Charles and Elizabeth Madore. Nickie was a kind and sincere man who would lend a helping hand to family, friends, and neighbors. He loved spending time surrounded by family, especially in Mira, and going for drives in his truck with his late wife Jean, and later his son John. Nickie was a wonderful Poppy to his grandchildren and went to many sporting events over the years taking great pride in watching his oldest grandson, Jonathan. Nickie worked for Coca Cola and then Devco until his retirement. In his younger years he played baseball. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his childhood friend the late Michael O’Connell as well as going on many camping adventures with his family. Nickie is survived by his son John (Erika) Madore, daughter Tara (Ken) Dempsey and his five grandchildren Jonathan Madore (Marielle Vroom), Mason Madore, Blake, Luke and Autumn Dempsey; his brother Billy (Joan Young), sister Theresa Brushett; in-laws Joe Maidment and Joan Jewels; as well as many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Nickie was predeceased by his wife Jean, brothers Joey, Naish and a sister Charlotte. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay. 902-849-4199. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 1-3 p.m., with a Celebration of Life to follow at 3 p.m. all in Tracey’s Funeral Home. Special thank you to the staff of the Renal Dialysis Unit as well as the staff of 3 West in the Glace Bay Hospital. In addition, thank you to Continuing Care for the utmost care and compassion in helping us with Dad these last few years.
