Obituary of Mary "Carmella" Campbell (O'Neill)

Mary Carmella Campbell (O’Neill), 90 Glace Bay, N.S. We the family of Mary Carmella Campbell (O’Neill), 90, of Glace Bay regret to announce her passing on Saturday, February 3, 2024, in the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Augustus and Anastasia (Campbell) O’Neill. Mom was the happiest being around family and friends. She also loved baking every Saturday, blueberry picking, spoiling her many grand and great grandchildren and pets, cheering on the Montreal Canadiens, watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. She had great faith and was a devoted member of St. Anne’s Parish and served on the Cemetery Committee for several years. Carmella is survived by one son: Peter Campbell (Trina, deceased); three daughters: Karen Campbell (Jean Marie), Marie McIntyre (Wade),Patsy Campbell (Lenny); five grandchildren: Jade (Travis) Kyle (Gillian), Matthew (Schooner), Danielle (Nathan), Jared (Brandi); Nine great-grandchildren: Emmerson, Kieran, Almantas, Elliot, Keaton, Spencer, Easton, Gabe, Austin; her Sister -In -Law Jessie O’Neill, dear friend Joyce MacKenzie, and several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Carmella was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Ronald (Rannie) Campbell, her siblings Willie, Francie, Hughie, Gussie, Sr. Ann, Gerald, Margaret, Theresa and Ignatius. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday,February 15, 2024, at 10 a.m. in St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 695 Main St., Glace Bay, with Fr. Duaine Deveraux presiding. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Anne’s Catholic Church Roof Fund, Cemetery Committee or the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada. Special thanks to the nurses, staff and physicians at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital for all the care they gave Carmella.
