Obituary of Rose Ann Evans
We, the family, are saddened to announce the passing of Rose Ann Evans, 75, on January 31, 2024, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in Sydney, Rose was the daughter of the late John and Nora Mah.
Rose’s early working career began in Sydney at Lynch’s Bakery and as an Electronics Assembler with General Instruments. Later, she enjoyed a 30 plus year career in Environmental Services at the Sydney City Hospital and Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Her ever-present smile and laughter brightened the days of coworkers and patients alike. After retirement in 2012, Rose is still fondly remembered as “The Fudge Lady”.
Rose enjoyed time in Mira Gut with Tommy, travelling, reading, bowling, her Circle of Friends, and was an avid walker. She was also a dedicated curling fan who could be heard loudly cheering on the curlers through the television. Most recently, one of her great joys was her Friday lunches with brother, Stanley.
Rose is survived by her husband, Tom Evans, of 36 years; son, Donald DeLeskie (Irene); stepson, Gary Evans, Ontario; stepdaughters, Linda Birch (Wayne), Ontario, and Charlene Libbus, Sydney; brother, Stanley Mah (Rose), Sydney; sister, Evangeline Piercey (Wally), Ontario; and 2 grandchildren, Matthew MacLean, Sydney and Nicholas MacIntosh, Ontario. She is also survived by many nephews and nieces.
Besides her parents, Rose was predeceased by her sisters, Nellie MacKinnon, Anna Mah; and brothers, Willie Mah, and Edward Mah.
