Charlotte MacDonald Glace Bay Charlotte ‘Char’ MacDonald, 52, of Glace Bay passed away January 20, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in Glace Bay, NS, she was the daughter of Malcolm and Martha (MacPherson) MacDonald. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Char, a compassionate soul who left an indelible mark on the lives of those around her. Char, a fervent lover of animals, found immense joy in rescuing and bringing home stray dogs and cats, extending her nurturing spirit to creatures great and small. An avid basketball enthusiast, Char not only loved the sport but also spent time coaching and playing. Her influence reached far beyond the basketball court, as her work with recreation departments in various locations across the country—including Calgary, Ontario, Sydney, and Inverness County—reflected her commitment to fostering community engagement and well-being. A devout Cursillista, Char found solace and purpose in her faith. Char's creative spirit knew no bounds, as she channeled her imagination into the art of poetry. Her verses captured the essence of her experiences and emotions, leaving behind a legacy of words that resonated with those fortunate enough to share in her literary expressions. Known for her infectious laughter and a perpetual zest for life, Char maintained her childhood spirit throughout her years. Her fun-loving nature endeared her to many, creating lasting memories filled with joy and camaraderie. Nature was Char's sanctuary, and she reveled in outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, marathoning, and surfing. Her love for travel took her far and wide, with one of her cherished adventures being a journey to Bali, where she embraced the beauty and diversity of the world. In celebrating Char's life, let us remember the fun she brought to every encounter, the kindness she extended to both two-legged and four-legged friends, and the legacy of compassion and joy she leaves behind. May her spirit continue to inspire us all. Survived by her parents Malcolm and Martha MacDonald, brother Malcolm (Lynette) Macdonald, sisters Linda (Skip) Tatlock, Lorraine (Craig) Crocker; nieces, Mallory Tatlock, Kelsey (Denver) Conahan, Hillary Tatlock and nephews Josh Crocker, Jorden Crocker and her beloved pets Mac and Mini.
