Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of Russell and Cecilia (Glode) Singer. Val was brought up in the Brookside area and worked for many years at Sears, later in life changing careers to become an assistant pharmacist at Shoppers Drug Mart. Val loved the outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing lobsters, with her husband, Joe, and was never happier than when she was outside stacking wood. She was also an avid animal lover and owned various animals over the years. Val had a great sense of humor and was known for her generosity and compassion. Family was everything to her. Val is survived by her sister, Sandra Scott (Alistair); brother, Clinton Singer (Lorna); her three stepsons, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Lawrence Duggan; her parents, Russell, and Cecilia (Glode) Singer; sister, Judy D’Ambrose (Murray); brothers, Jim Singer, and Rex Singer (Barbara Campbell). Cremation has taken place under the compassionate care of T. J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Halifax. To leave word of condolence for the family please visit: www.tjtracey.com. As per family wishes, there will be no service, committal will take place in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Prospect to rest next to her beloved husband, Joe, in the spring when nature is in bloom once again, Val’s favorite time of the year.
