Obituary of Joanne Gouthro

Joanne Marie Gouthro November 26, 1954 – December 21, 2023 It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our sister Joanne Marie Gouthro at the age of 69, she died peacefully after a short stay in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on December 21, 2023. She was born November 26, 1954 to the late Melvin and Margaret (Walker) Gouthro. In her early years, Joanne worked for DEVCO until she could no longer work in 1985. She was a devoted member of St. Joseph’s Parish. Joanne is survived by her four brothers, Ambrose (Debbie), Grand Bahama, Earl (Cheryl), New Brunswick, Gerard (Rosanne) and Darrell (Pamela),both of Glace Bay, as well as many nieces and nephews. A special thank you to her cousin, Maureen who was always there to help her in anyway needed. Thank you to her Homecare Workers, who looked after her over the years and became special friends. The family would to thank the Cape Breton Regional Hospital and staff, Palliative Care and Dr. Alisha MacInnis for their exceptional care in her final days. Cremation has taken place under the care and compassion of T.J. Tracey Funeral Home, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS (902-849-4199) There will be no visitation as per her request. A memorial mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Immaculate Conception Church, Bridgeport with Fr. Daniel Boudreau presiding.
