Obituary of Ada Mellicent Pinsent

Ada Mellicent Pinsent, 89 of Halifax (formerly of Glace Bay) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 27th, 2023, at Northwood Long Term Care Facility. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of Charles and Edith Burt (Billard), and had a long, happy marriage with the love of her life, Clarence.
Ada was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was very active in St. Mary’s Church of The Collieries Parish in Glace Bay and served as a member of the Altar Guild for over 50 years. She was a member of the church Social Club and a Scout Leader. Ada retired from the Bank of Montreal almost 30 years ago.
Ada loved to bake and was well known for her tasty treats, especially her raisin biscuits, date squares and ‘lasses cookies. She was always up for a good game of cards or Rummoli, with family and friends, especially at the family cottage in Loch Lomond. Over the years, Ada enjoyed different hobbies. Many of her creations can still be found in her children’s and grandchildren’s homes.
Lovingly remembered by her sons, Tom (Lynn), Leon (Cathy) and daughter, Barb (Alain). Sister, Nancy (Lloyd), sisters-in-law, Isabel (Everett) and Barb (Jim), grandchildren, Julie, Cynthia (Justin), Anderson (Candace), Nicole, Glen, Denise, Cameron and great-grandchildren, Joey, Liam, Sophie, and many nieces and nephews.
Ada was predeceased by her husband; parents, parents-in-law, Thomas Pinsent and Phoebe Critch (Parsons), brothers, Charles (infancy), Murray, sister, Kay. Brothers-in-law, Raymond, William, Richard, Thomas, Albert, and sisters-in-law, Emily, Lillian, Annie and Ruby.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 2nd, 2024 at 11:00 am, with reception to follow, in St. Peter’s Anglican Church, 346 Cow Bay Road, Eastern Passage, Rev. Jon Hallewell officiating. Interment will be at a later date, in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney.
Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Glace Bay, St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Eastern Passage, Northwood Long Term Care Facility, Halifax or a charity of choice.
