Obituary of Joanne Milley

Joanne Milley Gardiner Mines It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the sudden passing of Joanne Milley at home with her husband by her side on December 19, 2023. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Murdock and Cecelia McNeil. In her early years, Joanne was employed with St. Joseph’s Hospital and GI Instruments in Sydney and later at Highland Fisheries in Glace Bay, until her retirement. Joanne is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Jim Milley; son James Jr. (Donna); daughters, Brenda (Mark), Carolyn, Debbie (Randy) and Elaine, seven grandchildren, Victoria, Natasha, Ashley, Matt, Brandon, Stacey and Jason; several great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Hector, Vince and Roddy; sisters, Betty, Mary ‘Suie’ and Doris as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her special aunt Sadie; sisters, Marie, Theresa, and Margie; brothers, Stevie and Jackie; son-in-law, Lance. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 11 am, with Lily MacDonald presiding in Tracey's Funeral Home Glace Bay, N.S.
