Susan MacDonald, 65
Glace Bay, N.S.
It is with great heartache, that we the family of Susan MacDonald, 65, announce her passing on November 3, 2023, at Hospice Cape Breton. Born in Glace Bay, Susan was the daughter of the late George and Rose Smith.
Susan was a dedicated supervisor at Tim Horton’s, McKeen St., in Glace Bay, for the past 20 years. During Susan’s years of employment, she made many close friendships with her coworkers and customers. Susan was an avid reader, and in her free time you would often find her curled up with a book and a cup of tea. Susan also loved searching for beach glass, swimming in the Mira River, playing cards and board games. Every evening, Susan enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, and knew most of the answers, because she was a very intelligent person.
Susan was happiest when she was spending time with her children and grandchildren, who were her greatest accomplishments and real joy of her life.
Susan is survived by her three sons: Michael (Shellie), Adam (Jennifer), and Stephen (Samantha); a daughter: Melissa (Scott) Cormier; two brothers: George (Gloria), and Gerald (Brenda); seven sisters: Barbara, Lorna (Frank), Janice, Cindy (Greg), Wendy (Tommy), Trisha (Brian), Fran (Fred), and a sister-in-law Mae; nine grandchildren: Nick, Josh, Hunter, Jocelynn, Colby, Rylie, Oliver, James and Chandler; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Susan was predeceased by a sister in infancy, brother Ricky, nephews Christopher and Allan, a niece Vicky in infancy, and great niece Jordynne.
Susan’s family would like to express a special thank you to the team of 3B in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Palliative Care Unit and Hospice Cape Breton, our family are truly grateful for the care and compassion shown to our mother and family.
