Obituary of Deborah Ann Martin
We are saddened to announce the passing of Deborah Ann Martin, on Friday, October 20, 2023, at the Halifax Infirmary.
Born in Montreal, QC, Deborah was the daughter of Elizabeth Simpson and the late Dr. Gordon Simpson. After graduating from Holy Angels High School in 1973, Deborah went on to complete the Nursing Program in 1976 at the City Hospital School of Nursing. During her nursing career, she worked at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax and the City Hospital in Sydney. She loved reading, watching ‘the Habs’ play hockey and watching curling. She enjoyed water aerobics, travelling, a good cup of tea, and her weekly board games with “the girls”.
She is survived by her sons, Brent (Kim) and Kirk; daughter, Jilliane (Greg); brother, Lorne Simpson (Janet); sister, Barbara MacKillop (Dr. Jim MacKillop), sisters-in-law, Diane Simpson and Wendy Simpson; grandchildren, Sophia, Camden and Rowan; nephews, Ian, Craig, Christoper, Shawn, Alexander, Adam, and her niece Laura. Deborah was predeceased by her father, Dr. Gordon Simpson, and brothers, Kenneth Simpson and Barry Simpson.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, NS, 902-539-7175. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday, November 25, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
