Obituary of Frederick Wheeler Scott

SCOTT, Frederick Wheeler Dr., Age 80, of Halifax, NS. We are sad to announce the passing of Frederick October 2nd,2023 of a heart attack, in his apartment in Halifax. In Nova Scotia he was a recognized authority on butterflies, mammals, and birds, and he led the effort to launch and run the provinces first Atlas of amphibians and reptiles. His research contributions include an array of publications on mammalian distribution, ecology, and taxonomy, and he was awarded an honorary doctorate by Acadia University in Recognition of his impact and contribution. Just weeks before his death, he completed his last publication on the evolution of gliding in tropical tree squirrels. Cremation has taken place. There will be no funeral service or visitation.
