Obituary of William "Bill" Kyte

With saddened hearts, we announce the passing of William “Bill” Kyte, 85, of Sydney, NS, on October 18, 2023, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, with loving family at his side. Born in Sydney, Bill was the son of the late William and Emma (Coiffee) Kyte. He was the owner of Sydney Trophy Supplies and Hardwood Hill Dairy. Being an avid bowler, Bill managed K-Mart Bowling Center and also the Sydney Bowl and co-hosted East Link Candlepin Bowling. He took part in local and provincial candlepin bowling competitions since 1954 and was a member of the bowling’s coveted “400 Club”. He bowled with many top teams in the country; commercial and wholesale leagues winning the 1967 Massachusetts and New England Championships as well as winning multiple individual top averages and alley record scores. He was a lover of all sports, especially hockey and baseball. Bill is survived by his son, Bobby (Jenni) Kyte, Calgary, AB, and daughter, Jennifer Kyte-MacDonald (PJ), Sydney, NS. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife, Sheila (Collins). Special thanks to Wayne Nichols for always being a wonderful friend to Dad. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, 902-539-7175. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Monday, October 23, 2023 from 12 – 3 pm with funeral service following at 3 pm in the Chapel, Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating. A reception will follow. For those unable to attend, the funeral will be livestreamed on the T.J. Tracey Facebook page. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to SPCA Cape Breton.
