Obituary of M. Jean Faulkner

Please share a memory of M. to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
M. Jean (White) Faulkner, 92, of Lower Sackville, passed to be with her husband, Ken, on Sunday, 15 October, at home. Born in Halifax to parents J. Douglas and Daisy (Schwartz) White, Jean was their only child. She grew up in the South End, attending Tower Road School and Queen Elizabeth High. She was a young teenager during the War and was able to share memories of the VE day riots when prompted. In her youth, she enjoyed sailing out of the Squadron in the summer, and eventually took to skiing at Wentworth when the trains would drop off people at Wentworth Station. Jean met and married Kenneth Miles Faulkner in 1958, and spent the next 61 years with him, starting in Halifax, moving to Port Hawksbury, Sydney, and eventually landing in Lr. Sackville in 1974 with five sons in tow – Doug (Debbie), Chris (Gina), Blair (Janice), Kirk (Angela), and Keith (Trina). Our mother worked very hard at home, keeping us fed and chasing all of us around various neighborhoods, sports fields, school events, and hockey rinks in all parts of the province. Eventually, the grandchildren arrived – Sarah (Shane), Loran (Micaela), Seth, Trey, Cole, Jenna, Carter, and Tyler. Mom was immensely proud of her boys and their children and would do her best to let everyone know what was going on with everyone else in the family at every opportunity – mostly on her daily or weekly phone calls. Jean was predeceased by her parents and husband. A Celebration of Life will be held at Knox United Church, 567 Sackville Drive, Lr. Sackville, on Saturday, November 18th, at 11am. Interment to follow at Oakridge Memorial Gardens cemetery. Family Flowers Only, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Halifax. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting tjtracey.com.
