Obituary of Sherman Dale Murphy
Please share a memory of Sherman to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Age 86, of Hubbards. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sherman on October 12, 2023 in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born June 9, 1937, in Halifax, NS, he was the son of the late, Luther and Bertha (Jennings) Murphy.
At a young age Sherman began his career with CN Railways, working 37.5 years before retiring at age 55. On Saturday nights he could be found watching hockey games on T.V. and he also enjoyed watching Nascar races. Spending time in the woods hunting in his earlier years was a hobby that made him happy, however as he got older, he got much softer making it hard for him to even imagine harming an animal.
Sherman loved his family, and this was evident by the look of pure joy on his face when spending time with them. His grandchildren meant the world to him, and he spoke about them with great enthusiasm. He was a caring husband, loving father, and a friend to all who knew him, keeping in touch with many over the years. Sherman loved a good story, talking about times of the past and having a good laugh. He will be missed by all the lives he's touched.
Sherman is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Carol (Bishop) Murphy; sons, Terry (Katina)
and Mark (Donna); sister, Plessa; grandchildren, Mandy and honorary grandson TJ, Melissa
(Kyle) Morgan (Kyle); great-grandchildren, Quentin (Christa) Adrianna, Xander, Korbyn, Dylan,
