Obituary of Thomas J Ross

Aged 79, of Lower Sackville, NS died peacefully on October 12, 2023 at the QEII hospital ICU. He is survived by and was the loving husband and best friend of Judith A (Mailman) Ross and an amazing father to Andrew (Shelley) Ross; Jennifer (Paul) Robichaud and Alison (Chris) MacRae as well as his sister, Lois Flemming. He was also the proud grandfather of Carye, Meghan, Taylor, Emily, Lauren, Jonathan and Abbey as well as the greatest great grandfather of Aidan, Emma, Alyssa, Ethan and Catie. He was predeceased by his parents, Reginald Ross and Marie (Ross) Neaves. Tom was a 1961 graduate of the former Saint Patrick’s High School in Halifax and went on to obtain his Registered Industrial Accounting Diploma (RIA), now Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA). His greatest joy in life was his family. He took pride in his children and his grandchildrens’ accomplishments, whether academic, sports related or just general life events. He loved travelling with his family, spending time playing Saturday night cards and time at the beach at Grosse Coque, NS with Judy and his long time friends. He spent 30 years with Nova Scotia Power as Billing Manager and was well respected in his field. He enjoyed his Wednesday coffee get-togethers with his retired coworkers and friends. He was also a volunteer, giving his time back to his community, as a coach for his son’s hockey teams or his daughters’ ringette teams. He spent several years volunteering with St. John Vianney Church Parish Council as well as supporting them by providing financial oversight to the church. There will be a reception for all who knew Tom and his family at the Sackville Lions Club at 2pm on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, 101 Old Beaverbank Road, Lower Sackville, NS. At the request of the family, prior to the reception there will be a private service with no visitation. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at the hospital, especially the CCU and ICU teams. Donations in memory of Tom can be made to Beacon House or Hope Cottage.
