Obituary of Mary Margaret Crosby

Mary Margaret Crosby Glace Bay, N.S. With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mary Margaret Crosby, loved and treasured sister, aunt, and friend. Mary passed away at 76 on October 2, 2023, at the New Waterford Hospital with her family by her side. Mary was the daughter of Robert and Frances Crosby of Argyle St., Glace Bay. Mary is survived by her sisters Betty Currie and Frankie (John) Darragh, brother Ronald (Norma), brother-in-law Bernard Hayes; dearly loved nieces Aliesje (Jay) MacInnis, Francine (Sean) Burke and Meggie (Glenn) Currie; nephew, Karl Crosby; grandnephews and niece, Keagan, Conner, Liam, and Cate; numerous cousins; and many treasured friends. In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her sister, Agnes, brother Bob, and brother-in-law, Leonard. All whom she cherished and dearly missed. Mary began her career at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Glace Bay and retired from the Glace Bay Hospital. Mary formed many lasting friendships there that continued past her career. Mary treasured time with her family and friends. She enjoyed attending and hosting holiday dinners and took enormous pride in her home and gardens. Mary was a talented artist; she created beautiful paintings, needle works, and flower arrangements. Animals were an important part of Mary’s life from her early childhood. She offered a loving home to many pets over the years, including her surviving pets, Molly, and Bridget. Mary was an integral part of the Argyle Street neighborhood, where many will miss her dearly. In Mary’s memory, donations may be made to the SPCA or the St. Joseph’s Holy Family Cemetery Fund. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at 2 p.m., with Lily MacDonald presiding, in T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay. (902)849-4199.
