Frederick Thomas Davidson, 84 Glace Bay It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of our dad, Frederick Thomas Davidson, age 84, on Friday, September 22, 2023, at the Glace Bay Hospital, with his family by his side. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Alexander and Ruth (Brindley) Davidson. Dad was a well-known fishing captain. He made two trips to England and one to Scotland to bring boats back to Nova Scotia in his early years, one known as the Snowbird. Dad fished all over the Maritimes and Newfoundland including the Flemish Cap, which he spoke of the most. Dad was an avid reader and Blue Jays fan. After his retirement he still made and mended nets for local fishermen. Fred started baking in his later years and loved to bake pies and muffins for his daughters. Fred is survived by his friend and former wife, Doreen; two sons, Wayne, Brad (Michelle) Alberta; three daughters, Shelly (Moose) Nightingale, Nikki, special stepdaughter, Tara; seven grandchildren, Renee, shay, Jansen, Brett, Tyler, Ella, and Camden; his precious great grandchildren, Hayden, Laylah, Gavin, soon to born Beau. He is also survived by his brother, Donnie (Ontario) as well as many nieces and nephews, especially Melissa Daley and Lynda Sarno and his special friend of 60 years, Clarence Sehl, who went to visited him until the end. Besides his parents, Fred was predeceased by his son-in-law, James Steele; sister, Jean McDonald; brothers, Alex, Roy, Robert, and Art. Cremation has taken place. As per Fred’s wishes there are no services. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. The family would like to thank Dr. MacLachlan, Dr. MacKay, and the staff of the Glace Bay Hospital, 3 East for their exceptional care given to our dad during his stay.
