Obituary of Mary Bernadette Kelly
Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Passed away peacefully, on September 25, surrounded by family, leaving to mourn her loving husband of 36 years, Tony; children Chris, and Laura; sisters, Anne Power (Patrick), Sharon Roche, Diane Roche, and Irene Barnable (Terry).
Predeceased by her mother, Ellen (Kinsella); father, Ralph; and brothers, Gary, and Jerry Roche.
Mary will also be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, friends, and her Kelly family in-laws.
Mary graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 1981 with a Bachelor of Commerce and moved to Calgary to work in the oil industry with CNP. In 1985, she relocated to Halifax where she enjoyed a rewarding 30-year career in assessment services as administrative assistant.
An avid walker who enjoyed spending time outdoors with her ‘grand-dog’ Pep, and her walking pal Helen Olsen.
Once Mary retired, she began “honing in” on her cooking and baking skills, trying new gluten free recipes for family gatherings, even for Pep’s birthdays.
She was a lover of country and folk music. Some of her favourite artists include George Harrison, Vince Gill, Garth Brooks, the Eagles, and Merle Haggard.
Special thanks to Monica Flinn for her care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Nova Scotia SPCA, or a local women’s shelter.
Celebration of life to follow at a later date.
