Obituary of Leo Joseph Moss

It is with deep sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Leo Joseph Moss on September 19, 2023, at Harbourstone Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family at the age of 90 years. Leo was born April 11, 1933 to the late Bella (Jolie) and Donald Moss. In his early years, Leo worked at Eaton’s and K-Mart and then joined the City of Sydney Fire Department. After 29 years of service, Leo retired in 1994 as a Fire Inspector. Leo loved life and enjoyed dancing, skating, camping, painting and many sports, especially baseball, golf, darts and hockey where he played at a high level with the Sydney Millionaires and Cape Breton Combines. Leo is survived by his sons, Glenn, Sydney, Kevin (Harriett), Port Caledonia, Darren (Jennifer), Westmount; daughter, Jo-Ann (Doug), Sydney; grandchildren, Nicole (Lawrence), Megan, Breagh (Kyle), Kyle, Alyssa (Daniel), Alex, Jordan and Carlie; brothers, George (Betty), Noris (Judy), Garnet (Donna) and Brent; sisters, Donna (David), Robyn Dale and Kenda; brother-in-law, Doug McCorkindale; sister-in-law, Marge Moss and many nieces and nephews. Leo is also survived by a wonderful companion, Bridget Peters. Besides his parents, Leo was predeceased by his ex-wife, Madeline Moss; stepmother, Evelyn Moss; brothers, Bill Moss and Donald Moss; sisters, Mary Moss and Irene McCorkindale. Special thanks to Harbourstone staff on Levatte’s Lane for the care and compassion provided to Leo. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, 902-539-7175. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 24,at 3 pm, in the funeral home Chapel, Rev.
